Product update: I have been around here at R & S for a little while and some of the folks here might already know that I luvs shotguns, especially Beretta. I believe that the epitome of a shotgun is the O/U and the SXS. Its always been my dream to own one, namely the Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon V. But I don't know to many people, my self included, that can bank roll one of these fine guns. www.yildizshotgun.comI got a call from my buddy last week and he said that he was bring a gun by that he just purchased. He said it was an O/U. He said he got it at Academy for $399. I'm thinking, all right what ever. He got it over to my house and I picked it up. My initial impression was: Weight good (5.6lbs) this will make a good Field gun/skeet/trap, finish good, wood had good lines with some marbling, I then broke it open. TIGHT!! no slop what so ever. The final test was to shoot it: came to the shoulder well, well balanced, good follow through, easy on the shoulder after the shot (although I here the 12 is not), and has a good pattern. Overall impression: I liked the gun for the price. I liked it so much that I went and bought one last Friday. I will change the chokes on it and switch them to Briley. Don't get me wrong I do this on all my guns, even my Berettas'. I am currently researching an option of forcing the cone. What little I have found on this issue, is that it does not make much difference on this gun. I will continue to research this, the gun is still fairly new to the American market, I believe. The oldest gun that I have found that was talked about, was four years old. The only place carrying this gun is Academy right now. Briley is the only manufacturer of aftermarket chokes for this gun that I have found so far. I have read that there is a gunsmith out there that is doing the work on the barrels and does (I believe) make custom chokes for the guns. I currently do not have the name of the gunsmith readily available to post, but I will dig it up. I would like to have it for my own benefit. If you have ever wanted a O/U or SXS, take a look at this one. I did.

That is a real nice looking o/u. Good luck with it. A little suggestion to keep it a long time, don't dry fire the gun. Get a set of mopped snap caps for it and keep them oiled and in the barrels when the gun is not in use. This way the firing pins will be okay... The problem with the Turkish guns is not really quality but rather it is a need for the parts here. Mossberg has the Silver RESERVE and it is a nice looker. But when the springs or pins let loose this is where the problem comes to play. You need to have a part madde by a gunsmith adn that is more than the guns value... But hey, take care of it and I m sure it will take care of you. I wish Academy was in NY I would look at one to see what it looks like.

Might as well get them now, casue the elected officials are always trying to take them anyway... Good luck with the new gun. let me know how it is on the skeet field...
Briley chokes are good but I stick with Invector or factory if I can. A friend that works at the range as well had a tube set put into his 686 by Birley and the gun now shoots low on the under barrel. He recently bought a krieghoff K80 (he's insane) and the guy there saw the bore was wrong right away. He has sent the gun back to briley and is waiting for a word from them.
Anyhow, let me know how the new baby smokes them on the field.

here are some shots at our last pheasant hunt. unfortunately all the farms have been developed around me or they are developed on every inch around them and don't allow hunting. So we have to shoot at preserves. this one was in northeast Pa. nice place wioth decent birds for so late in the season.

i was using a Winchester SuiperX2 for the first day of hunting... for the morning hunt which I didn't bother putting on coveralls for I shot great and the gun was flawless. But for the COLD afternoon hunt the gun was hanging up on me and wold not recycle the second round... when I got back to the lodge I broke the gun down and gave it all a good rub down... But the next morning we went out for 12 chukar and I brought an old italian gardone I have (O/U) and shot that... I didn't want to take a chance with the faster flying chukars with having only one shot.
when I returned to work on weds we broke the entire gun down and cleaned it good. Hnag p was blamed on ammo and freezing oils... Time will tell...
