can i shoot a slug out of a fixed modified choke?

Yes...Accuracy will be questionable...I used to use an old J.C. Higgins pump with a full choke barrel and that thing was deadly accurate with Brenekee Slugs...But others had mixed results using a full choke barrel...But a Modified or Improved Cylinder should have more consistant results I would think.

I agree but i would keep my shots under 40 yds.The sabot slugs shoot ok out of one of my smooth bore mod's. But should always test them on paper before you head out into the field with them.

Yup. As far as I know you can shoot them out any Choke.

Modified choke is your best bet... if you can get yourself a good rifled barrel I'd say that was the best way to go! You're accuracy will improve and so will your range. With the right shell and practice 85 yds should be a good range for you.
