My brother used to hunt with a 99 in .300 Savage...My Father still hunts with a 99 in .30-30...Dad made a heck of a 120 yard shot a couple of years ago...Not bad for an 80 yr old man... The Savage 99's are great rifles!!!

My very first rifle, back in the late 60's, was a Savage 99 in .308Win. I kept the rifle for a couple of years, then got rid of it because it would group no better than about 1 1/4" (5 at 100yds). Being young and inexperienced I didn't realize that was very good grouping for a lever action, especially one that had quite a kick to it. For some years I wished I had that trusty old rascal back, but eventually moved on. It was indeed an excellent rifle. Best wishes.

I have two Savage 99's! One is an old(1953) in .250/3000 and have taken alot of whitetails with it. No jolt and is a joy to shoot but I needed something larger for out West so bought a M99C in .308 cal. in 1965. Have taken bear, elk, mulies and whitetail and antelope with it-some at extreme ranges! I found my best load to be Hornady 165gr. BTSP for my .308. Have several rifles for out West but the old 99C is always there with me as a back-up. Its my go to rifle and still is an accurate, hard hitting rifle even tho its banged and battered from Wyoming and Montana elk, deer and lope hunts!! I know it will outlast me!!!!!!!!....Bill Gould

Yes - I got a 111 in .243 this year. It has the new "Accu Trigger". Works great. No other gun in this price range has an adjustable trigger.

Check Gunbroker and Auction Arms. They have them quite frequently. Although they are pretty expensive. Just keep looking and you will find one in the price range you are looking for. I did.
