After four days of getting my butt handed to me in the turkey woods I FINALLY feel confident in the days to follow. I decided to take this morning off from the woods to do some reconnaissance and scouting efforts, albeit short it was sweet! I have the luxury of having three prime locations within less than a mile from my house so I took it upon myself to hit one spot whereas I could listen and locate some gobblers in two of the three locations all at once. I was surprised to hear nothing but silence coming from my one property that I've been holding off from while hearing at least two mature Toms sounding off from the property I didn't expect to hear them from. That is a bonus as the land has recently been altered by a massive logging operation to which I was expecting to have relocated the tradition flock location. To my advantage, it hadn't and I will certainly be pursuing that spot SOON! After locking in to their position I then maneuvered to the third and final spot (the property that I hunted yesterday and was surprised to find out that my flock had repositioned). Taking note of their whereabouts from yesterday's fiasco, I pulled off the side of the road with plenty of daylight to scope the field in which they were in the day before. No birds were down yet so I glassed the tree tops. BINGO! The two butterballs were tightly nestled in a massive oak adjacent to a PERFECT Cedar tree for where I plan to set up. This set will give me the vantage point of covering two fields separated by the hedgerow of trees they're currently squatting in right now as I type this! If anything, tomorrow's hunt shall give me either one of two things: 1) A Tom swinging upside down over my shoulder during my victory march back to my vehicle, or 2) Knowing exactly where to set up the following day. Either way, tomorrow's adventure in the turkey woods is setting up to be a success!

Btw... I want to say that it very much SUCKS to take a day off in lieu of scouting, but I think the trade-off and benefits therein are well worth it in the end. As I've always been a student of the following statement... "Patience kills more turkey!"... 'nough said.
