As far as seeing deer it was a great season. Saw a lot of up and comers. And had three blown opportunities. I've never missed three deer with the bow during a season until this one. One was a real good one. When gun season came saw mostly young bucks or no deer at all. One day you'd see em. Next 3 or 4 nothing. I didn't drop the hammer until late muzzleloader on a big doe. The past two seasons have been pretty sorry. Deer patterns are erratic to say the least. Gonna make changes in the off season and see if it helps? I did see a majority of the deer I got on trailcam. And always get a few surprises. Be hunting the same buck going on year three. Lol! I actually saw him this year three times. Was excited just to put eyes on him. He only showed in daylight three times. Other than that if it wasn't an hour into darkness he never came out of his small hideout. I didn't try to go in there at all. But this years another year.

Never give up!! With you just continuing to go year after year shows the love of deer hunting. My dad hunted for 20 yrs or more before he shot a buck. While I was racking them up. He was still out there year after year. He missed two giants that I know of. Along with quite a few seasons without seeing any bucks. I use to put him in my stands and tried to make sure he had the best setups I could find. He could sit in a stand one day. Not see anything. Then I or a friend could sit in the same stand and boom. It will happen for you I'm sure of it.

Gotta have those bad seasons here and there. The easy seasons will make us look like pro hunters on the outdoor channel. Lol My buddies blame me for my misfortune. Say I pass too many up. The capper was my buddy jerry filming our bow hunt one evening . Where I passed on a buck he shot two weeks later. They all said I've become a softie and passed up to many bucks back to back seasons. My excuse was I didn't have a clear shot 28 yds in s field. Hard to bs when its on video. I will continue to keep on plugging. Lady luck hates me. Could be tough.

Well Scott, I never drew a string back or cracked a cap this year. Had the safety off once on a 10 point during the worst storm I've ever hunted in only to have him disappear in the sleet, hail, snow and heavy rain while the lightning cracked overhead. Had a lot of fun this year, took a guy from Arkansas hunting and he downed a 153 inch 10 pt on the second day with his bow, his buddy took 2 doe with me and had shot a 145 inch 8 pt earlier in the week. I had the deer, but did not put it together, probably worst tactics I've ever came up with, just did many things wrong though I hunted more days than anytime in my life. Almost hate to say this but I hunted around 60 days in a row, missing only 3 or 4 part time days and have nothing to show for it.
So Scott, you say they accuse you of getting soft for passing up deer, well you have reached the goal in hunting, you are now really enjoying the hunt, friendship, life and the outdoors, having respect for the animals and the land we both live on. There can be more enjoyment in an unfilled tag sometimes especially when you find out the deer that walked is hanging around to match wits next fall. Nothing wrong with an unfilled tag if you are enjoying the time in the woods.

Sounds like you got out a lot this season Scott. Great that you got up on some deer. It always amazes me how fast one can blow a good opportunity. Missed my biggest buck Thanksgiving morning. He was standing in my pasture with a few does. Turned out to be a Chinese fire dill. End result, he walked. Did manage a nice whitetail buck and my son a mulie buck. Deer were fairly scarce this year for us. Happy to get what we did.
