My buddy mike acquired permission to hunt and do whatever to a diamond in the rough. This place is around 100 acres and surrounded on three sides by state forest. The access road was blocked by several trees. He doesn't have a saw so I hooked him up. After cutting some good sized trees. I was looking forward to seeing this old hunting camp. The clearing was about 10 acres in size. Had grown in logging trails like a pinwheel heading into the big woods. I saw this and immediately foodplot came to mind. I told mike there's nothing but woods for miles. Any deer or turkeys in the area would enjoy it. Lol! Its 500 feet up in from a seasonal road. Perfect for a secluded food source! It was truly a shame they didn't maintain the little cabin. The foundation is caving in and the framework is beyond fixing. But here's the place. Trust me the pics do it no justice. A little piece of heaven. I could easily build a house and live there. Pics on the way.

NICE! Wonder what some white clover would do there, mixed with wheat, rye grass and/or radishes. I have a place just as you are describing and don't have any luck with grains like soybeans because they eat them up before the beans can ever mature, nothing left when fall arrives. I've been having better luck here with clovers and if I get energetic, seed something early fall like the radishes and turnips.

Yeah between there and my families property. Gonna be a busy summer. Lol. Probably put clover in there this year. Ground looks like hardpan! So gotta start simple.
