My next new idea for the GoPro Hero camera to get underwater footage of a hooked bass coming to the boat:
This will extend up to 9' under water and put the camera at the exact angle I'd like with a quick adjustment of the knobs!

They're great for very specific uses as they are not meant for long distance filming of any sort, but there is the "creativity factor" that comes into play that makes this little gizmo fun to play with.

Maybe try one. Use it bow hunting?

Haven't tried it yet for bowhunting. My hunting buddy and I managed to use it during the one and only time that we both were able to get out (ughh... don't get me started on how badly I missed being able to REALLY get out after 'em this spring... but one time out and one kill so we were battin' a thousand this season... guess ya gotta look at it that way.) and managed to get footage of his boots (as his gun was resting on his leg the whole time the gobbler was working toward our set and he had it mounted to his Beretta) right until the moment of him pulling up on the 3 year old Tom and droppin the hammer. The clarity of the High Definition was amazing and the flop of that bird was pretty cool... just not enough footage (and a few choice words after the dusting that were spoken after a long battle of pulling in that booger over 700 yards across the open field to the gun! lol) to really put together anything worth posting. AND, at the same time, it's not that great with live footage in that it is only a "first person" type of camera... the depth is exaggerated and things look much, much further than they really are, and it has the "fish eye" look to it so not the best camera for hunting situations. I think it's best suited for creative ways to film such as filming yourself in the tree while deer hunting or mounting it to a rod for underwater footage while fishing or to the windshield of a boat to capture hook sets etc. We're planning on getting other, more versatile HD video cameras to capture better footage with.
