Today, a friend of mine came over to pick up some firewood . His grandson came along to help out grandpa. Yesterday, Gary the grandson, went out by himself up one of the near by mountains. It was the last day of elk season. He got up to 75 yards from a herd of elk. He said they were in the heavy timber, so he couldn't get a good view of all of them. But a spike bull did show itself and he pulled the trigger on it and down it went. After tagging it, he hiked the half mile down the ridge and went to town to pick up his brother and a couple of young friends. Together they went back up the mountain to deal with the bull. Together they skinned out the bull, quartered it, and packed it all down to the pickup. Now this process took a good bit of time. When I talked to Gary about, he said, it was a great learning experience as I quite well can imagine it was. These four young ladds taking on getting a bull off the mountain, made me feel like there was stll hope for the human race. Just love it when kids get these kind of outdoor experiences. Hope they are around if I ever drop an elk up on the mountain. There experience will pay off for sure then.

Terry that is awesome, there are still a few folks that can take control and get a tough job done, so good to hear these young guys are among them. It has to be a huge task to deal with an elk on a mountain side. I've dressed out a few Elk but they were here in Mo close to a JD 7210, made the task much easier, never quartered one and carried it out, don't know if I could these days.
