Sat on the edge of this huge valley waiting for the sun to set and hopefully get a great picture. Well the colors were not that spectacular but I shot a wide angle shot anyway and just sat there enjoying the evening quiet, big open expanse of land, no one around, But after looking for several minutes I kept seeing something next to the dry wash by the tree line. Changed to the 500 mm Lens and sure enough at about 2000 yards there was this old Bull Bison and he too probably thought he was alone. Enjoyed watching him until near dark then headed back to town.

I know that feeling of the vastness. Thanks for sharing the pics and the thoughts. Alot of times I could relate to that old Buff.

Kt, the thoughts that went through my mind that evening were probably all wrong but I had this imagination of what it was like 150 years ago. Would I have even been strong enough to have made it to this place from back East, would I need that old bull for food and if so should I try for him this night or find him in the morning. If and when I made the shot how far would it be heard and by whom, just might draw some unfriendly company. It sure took some hardy people to settle the West and they sure upset the lives of many others in doing so. Sometimes wonder just how much better off we are now.
