Two of the photos that I took real quick of some birds near Wall South Dakota. I've warned Kt already that I need him to identify them for me. When I at first saw them I thought they were pheasants but know they are not, assuming they are a grouse. There were 3 of them together, all the same size and moving constantly in the prairie grass not giving me much of a shot. Seemed to be a nervous bird

Hey Grizz. These appear to be juvenile sharptail grouse. A fun bird to hunt. Nice you were able to see them and get a pic.

Thanks for the identification, they kept moving and weaving around in the tall grass I wasn't able to get a good shot and of course I was shooting into the sun too. I was curious to know what I had stalked and shot with the camera. What do these birds do in the fall/winter, stay in a covey or as singles?

Steve. These birds will flock up in the winter. Here is a pic of one that stayed just long enough for a pic. Alot of times in the winter, they will bury into the tall grasses and snow when the weather gets really adverse.
