Okay guys, I was at a local gun shop just milling around the other day. I was up at the counter talking to some friends and I seen that they had a Vortex behind the counter. I asked them about it and they felt that it was comparable to, for example, Leupold's Mark IV. Really? Well I had to see it to believe it. I took it out side, did not adjust the power, and pick a location about 1,500 yards away. Let me be the first to tell you, if you do not already know, AWESOME! Very clear, good glass, no halo. The turrets had a great feel and had a very positive adjustment to them. I looked it over and overall the Vortex PST had an extremely nice appearance. After looking through the Viper PST and giving it a good looking over, I found out that I was holding the Vortex Viper PST 6 - 24 x 50mm with a 30mm tube and it had an MRAD reticle. Now for the price, $590!!! Of course I do not know how the optic tracks or how it will handle massive recoil from the larger calibers. I did ask my buddies about this very thing. I was told that from everything they have tested and heard from other customers, the optic is top notch. From the appearance and the clarity, I would put it on a level above Leupold and just below NightForce. Not kidding, I was that impressed with the Vortex Viper PST. I will be buying a Viper PST in the near future. I highly recommend you folks get out there and give this scope a look see for yourself, if you haven't already. I believe you guys will be just as impressed as I was. For the money, you can't beat what this scope has to offer.
Every once in awhile a company comes along that introduces their products at a low price just to get their product noticed and a person just has that feeling that the company will eventually become a big player in their market. I feel Vortex and their optics indeed have that potential to be one of those companies. I do not see their products, especially their rifle scopes, staying at the current MSRP. They are really that good.
I don't know about you guys but another big consideration for me, when buying an expensive product, is the service after the sale. How well does Vortex treat their customers if a problem does arise, which regretfully does happen, and how well does Vortex stand behind their products? I ask my friends at the shop and they both told me Vortex goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to making sure the customer is happy. We have all had these unfortunate problems with high dollar equipment. So I am told, Vortex realizes this and makes absolutely sure that the repairs or replacement for one of Vortex's products is as painless and as pleasant as they can make it for the customer. They want the customer to be just as happy when they get their replacement or repaired optic back, as they were when the customer initially bought the item. I wanted to call Vortex and just speak with them about their service after the sale and talk with them about availability and let me say that they are the most polite and easy to talk to folks that I believe I have ever delt with.
Vortex also has a spotting scope (called The Recon) that offers a Mil Rad reticule for ranging. I have not personally seen this optic. But I have seen images and reports about this optic and from everything I have seen, it seems to be a very good optic. It too also has a very impressive price point of (MSRP $649). I fell in love with this optic the first time I seen it on Vortex's website. I am going to post a link to the Recon and the Viper PST so you all can go over there and look at them yourself. So please do, I think you will like what you see over there.
The Vortex Recon was one of the items that I spoke with Vortex about. They told me that this item was scheduled to be discontinued once supplies, in the warehouse, ran out. Both the 10 power and the 15 power VMS packages are no longer in the warehouse. So what ever is currently in the market is whats available. As for the Recon R/T's, there are still some quantities still available at the warehouse.
I know this sounds like I am a salesman for them, I am not. I am just that impressed with their product lines.
