This grey Stallion seemed to enjoy me taking his picture and I saw several dark colors, blacks, pintos near Buck Hill but never saw any of the red colored ones. Have to agree with JerseyHunter, sure enjoy the pics of your territory. Can you still get in the park in the winter when snow is on?

Grizz, nice close up shot of that Grey. Arn't they great to see in the wild. Yes the park is open to travel in the winter, but they don't plow roads, so you take what you get as far as travel goes. Here's a couple of pics of what may be some of the Grey's kin, maybe even the Grey. Pics were taken from quite some distance, so not the best.

That last pic sure looks like the herd I saw on a high ridge near Buck Hill, couldn't get close to them without a very long hike, steep one at that!
We sure enjoyed seeing them, more so than we thought we would, was looking for all the other wildlife that are new to us but the horses did bring a lot of questions to mind, like, where did they originate from, who and when.
They seem to be quite different in build than the horses I've been around, very stocky, short in length and I imagine very stout, sturdy, capable of taking care of themselves. Like the wild horses we saw at Custer's last stand in MT, bet their ancestors would have some great stories to tell!
