In my back acreage I have been leaving out food for a large racoon and a skunk with babies and some opossums. I also think a fox is out there. I would like to buy a Trail Cam to watch them and see what they are doing and what/who is out there. What would you suggest as the best trail Cam do buy for this purpose. There are so many on Cabela's I am lost. Most have a 3 Star review with some 1 star but no 5 stars total. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

Always on a limited budget, I've tried several cameras and for my money have had good luck with Stealth Cam and Cudde Back. Of the two, Cudde Back has the fastest trigger speed. The price has been dropped in the last year making them a decent buy. I do not own any IR cameras but would like to, they are a bit higher in price but may be worth it in certain situations. If you will be setting a camera on bait you won't have much problem getting any camera to work even if the trigger speed is slow. The fast speed is nice when using on side trails when catching passing animals or when they are moving by close up. There are many other cameras on the market that will do a great job, some have been and may still be advertised on this site. If you buy from a reputable dealer they should make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. My hunting buddies and I get a thrill when we check our cameras, it can be addictive especially when a surprise shows up like this buck.

I agree with everything grizz said. I own a cuddeback and a wildview and the cuddeback is great. The other just plain sucks! Some guys at work have wildgame innovations and they are pretty decent for the price. My first cam was a stealth in 35mm and it was great but I haven't owned a digital stealth yet. Stay away from wildview they have a 5 or 6 second trigger speed and I miss animals even on a bait pile.

I know this message is late but I have about five trail cams. I have a reconyx hc500 which is the best by far but the cam I like the best for the money is the spypoint g4 you can get at gander mountain for $99. It takes nice pics, great battery life and a 1-2 second trigger speed. Very reliable also. Scoot

The best type of trailcam is a homebrew trailcam. To find out more info check out : www.hagshouse.comMany folks have far more success with a homebrew trailcam that uses an actual camera ; as opposed to a commercial store bought camera. FYI- ;D
