The Pier at Atlantic Beach N Carolina , Monday Aug 22. This evening at 7 PM the waves were hitting the floor, hope it survives Irene as it has so many Hurricanes in the past.

We stayed at this Pier for 2 days, it is at the Oceanana in Atlantic "Beach NC. My friend sent me pics after Irene, a large portion of the end is missing now. Hope they are able to rebuild it, piece of history for that area, lot of local folks fish from it. Hope everyone back East is doing OK, we could have used some of your rain and helped us all out, real dry here now.

These wild horses got caught by high tide and were out to sea for a few hours as we went by them near Shackle-ford Banks and Cape Lookout. Later went over to their island where they had made it back and took more pics. For a guy from the mid West hill country this is a strange sight .

Nice pics Grizz. Quite interesting to see how these wild horses live and survive on their island. Thanks for sharing.

It is interesting to see them, surviving in the hot sun, the Hurricanes, and no fresh water. I've heard they dig holes in the sand and filter their own water. They have to endure whatever comes their way, no where to get away from it.
