Was able to get out yesterday and hunt some birds. Dakota did a most excellent job of getting me into a few birds. The weather was very nice and the birds held very tight. She put up three very nice roosters for me. The first, though, my aim was not so true. That one will only have a longertail later on. Can't believe how nice the weather has been for the last two weeks. Pretty scary. Was another very nice morning in the field.

Well I will say one thing ya got one heck of a huntin buddy. And those ringnecks will eat pretty darn good. Gosh i miss how much fun that is. Pheasant huntin around here isn't anywhere near what it was 20 years ago. We use to get dang near our limit each time out. And an occasional wood cock or grouse as bonuses. Just not there anymore. Keep sharin those, helps me relive it. Thanks buddy and pile em up!

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Dakota is now 3 yrs. old and this is her 4th hunting season. I got her when she was 10 weeks old. She put up her first rooster the second day I had her, and she has been to the field at least three days a week since then. I'm not much of a trainer, but we are usually on the same page, though she is constantly teaching me something new. With the last two brutal winters, our bird population has been pretty low. Without her, hunting birds just wouldn't be hunting birds. She is what makes hunting birds alot of fun. I'm sure most folks that hunt with dogs would say the same thing. Thanks again!
