Now I'm sure most of you have probably heard about Ted Nugent's run in with the law. He's been pretty much smeared already by the press, former fans, and ofcourse the antis. I had one of the websites or the page, which described somewhat the details of his debacle. But due to my genius I deleted it. Anyhow he pleaded no contest in court to the 11 or so charges he faced. Now love him or hate him,do you think the guide should be more responsible or should both of them take the hit? I personally never had a problem with Ted or his show. I'm not a huge follower. I watch him when I see him on the otch here and there. He's out there for sure. But he is also a pretty darn good ,or was a good advocate for hunting. An extremist on our side is how I would place him. If not I have some of the deal. He pretty much was accused of baiting, shooting an illegal deer(a spike ). In the state of Ca. you can't kill anything smaller than a 4 pt. I guess?? Not legally tagging or reporting it?? What are your views or opinions? I mean he obviously broke the law and videoed it. !! But if he knew it was a no,no why would he air it? Pleading no contest means an unknowing or carrying out an illegal act to me. And do you think like all celebrities or big sports figures. This will just eventually fade away?

Thats a tough call for sure. Not really knowing old Ted personally, but having seen him on lots of shows and such. My first thoughts are that more than likely he really wasn't didn't have a firm grasp on the regs, but depended on others. Who really knows though. I still like Uncle Ted though.

LongSpur I had not heard about this, it is a tough call to make without the full story. It does sound all mixed up, why would he show this if he KNEW it was breaking the rules? Almost sounds like he broke the law by not having himself completely informed of the regs than when caught admitted he had errored and payed the price. If he broke the law that's not good but if he admitted it when confronted and went along with the punishment I appreciate that. My first thought was that people that are public figures as those making these hunting videos should be well versed on the laws and make no mistakes but my second thought is why should it be any different for them than you or I. That would be like me saying it's alright for me to sin a little more than the Preacher. The game laws are for ALL of us, sounds like we have had a celeb break some of them and I think the story will be well known and perhaps never totally forgotton, but I bet TED will still be heard from and continue to hunt.

I was thinking along the same lines as both you and KT. Just was somewhat shocked. For someone who pretty much sits in the anti's crosshairs most of the time.To make a blunder like this. Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.??
