Thank you so much Brian for the kind words and encouragement they give me. If I could just do the dogs full time! As you know, I took on the dogs from Elk City adding them to what I already had, which wasn't much by the time I took them, I had just about quit. Some of the dogs I got from Elk City came from my original breeding stock, very good calm, intelligent dogs. Dora (the lady from Elk City) was very careful in selecting dogs for her breeding program and she is really better at knowing the backgrounds than I am. She made sure the dogs she was buying came from good lines and had titles to prove it. God has blessed me with wonderful Labs and God willing the kennel will continue to grow and produce highly intelligent, calm, beautfiul Labs that are easily trained.
I have had Jake out once to work with him. I don't have much confidence that I can give him what he needs. I have to tell you, I was really shocked at how he responded to the dummies with the bird wings, his whole attitude changed. Up to that point, I hadn't seem him interested very much at all in retrieving, but seeing how he did with them makes me know he really does need to be trained for hunting.
I was impressed with how you worked with Jake and how much Belle has learned. I have an idea you are going to do whatever it takes to advance just at the right pace and by the time you and Belle get done you will both be excellent at what you do. Belle wouldn't be where she was at if you hadn't gotten informed on how to train and then been willing to spend the time to get it done. Time is such as huge issue, I never seem to have enough of it and I am sure it is the same with you. We are all so busy believe me you have my utmost respect that you have so obviously taken the time to work with Belle. I love seeing that my babies have went to homes that work with them, whether that is hunting, show, service, or just plain old obedience and/or tricks. It makes a happy, healthy dog. I feel confident you and Belle can achieve your goals, I'll be cheering you on and I hope River is right on your heels.
