I just purchased a jelly head for my daughters youth 870 20. I also did something out of the norm. I'm the type like most,if it aint broke don't fix it. I got one for my 1187. I like my mad max very much. But just thought i'd try one out. Anyone else use these? i heard and received good reviews of them. but what do you guys think?

The Jelly Head is a great choke. I have tested them extensively. I personally have no complaints. I have seen birds taken out to 60 and 70+ yards with the right set up. Do not get me wrong here, I do not recommend taking a bird at long distances like this. But, it can be done if your home work and have the gun dialed in PERFECTLY. I know there are going to be some critics that say this is unsportsman like. So let me say this, it is not a normal practice for me. I have personally only done it once in the nine years that I have hunted and the kill was quick and clean.
On thing you need to do though. Pattern the gun at yardages under 25 yards. Why? The pattern is so tight that if the sights are off even a hair, you will miss. The pattern is about the size of a tennis ball at yardages under 25 yrds. I have seen in some cases, when testing, that the wad will actually penetrate and or destroy the paper target or 3/4 in plywood. Now please keep in mind, I am using Winchester Xtended Range Hi-Density.
Oh, yes the primos jelly head will handle hi-density. I know this is a worry for most shooters and there is not much info out there about this subject.

LIKE BRIAN SAID,, UNDER 25 YARDS IT'S LIKE SHOOTIN A RIFLE,, MY BUDDTY HAS ONE ON HIS 870, AND HIS DAUGHTER MISSED 3 BIRDS ,, " WHY " THEY WERE ONLY 17 YARDS AWAY... I SEEN THE WAD TEAR UP THE PAPER AT 25 YARDS.. GREAT CHOKE AND DO YOUR HOME WORK,,I KNOW YOU WILL.. LET US KNOW HOW YOU DID,,IF YOU CAN , TAKE SOME PIC'S OF THE PATTERN SO WE CAN SEE THEM..

well they are OK, but abit over-priced but every thing is chokes are everywhere some of the cheaper chokes can and will shoot just as good, i shoot a Mad-Max in my Rem 870 but it was arounnd $73.00 if i recall, then my buddy hands me a 660 Carlson,s alot cheaper choke and it eats up the Turkey Target at 35 yards so three thumbs up for the Jelly-Head Myself Hastings after years of shooting would be my pick, seems there getting harder to find and Ported harder, but they also are pricy,,

I wanted to get one for my daughter's gun, but I worried it would be too tight and she would miss. I ended up going the cheaper route with the undertaker choke. It shoots very well out to 35 which is my limit for her and it gives a little bigger pattern at 15 yards.
I would like to try one for me, but right now I am shooting hevi shot and I don't think the .660 is loose enough for the non-lead loads.
