Saturday evening we are having our Lincoln Day in my hometown, it is an event hosted by the local Republican Club to give Candidates a place to introduce themselves by speaking and answering questions.
As an elected officer, I'm in charge of organizing this event, an auction, dinner, speakers ect. and all the meetings, planning, late nights are soon going to come to pass.
At this time we know there will be two Congressmen, a state Representative and a state Rep candidate in attendance. One of the congressmen is a Candidate for US Senate.
I've not seen or heard as much interest in citizens wanting to get to know their candidates as I have this year. I know I'm looking forward to listening to and speaking to the Congressmen and Representative that have so much affect on our daily lives.
Many of you know me fairly well from being on R&S for the last couple of years so I can assure you that I will know how they feel about hunting/fishing and many other issues by the end of the evening. I will also do my best to see that everyone has a great and fun filled time. I would also appreciate your thoughts and prayers that the evening goes well and everyone has safe travel, whether it be car or plane. Grizz

Kt29, you are correct when saying we all should become more involved and I would like to encourage everyone to do so. I just so happen to belong to the Republican party but I like getting to know all the candidates, no matter which party they belong to. There are many levels of involvement, from your county all the way to the White House, from two hours a month to full time. We had a very successful evening with 100 expected guests, had 130 in attendance. Had terrible weather but everyone came during a snowstorm and stayed for the entire 5 hours of introductions, speaking and Auction. Our Congressmen spoke and ran to make connecting flights to KCI so they could get back to DC for the vote on health care today, yes on a Sunday. Unbelievable that after all this time, Sunday is the big day for all Congressmen to make it to work, so now we will see what's next.
