A young man I love as my own was put in jail last night. This young man has had a rough life growing up. From drinking and doing drugs, living in a broken home. His Father was in prison because of drugs, when he got out he wanted to make things right with his son, the were out riding horses, and came back, his Father was kicked by the horse and died from injuries sustained. He has been carrying the burden of feeling he should have been there, he feels every time something good happens, something bad will soon happen. He carries the guilt of losing his Father on himself, he feels it's his fault that it happened. I have prayed with him, for him so God would lift this burden off of him. But he feels it's his to carry. I have truly gotten to know this young man in the last year (his Father died about 3 years ago). He no longer drinks or do the drugs. He goes to church with us almost every Sunday and Wed. nights. I have seen a major change in this young mans' life. I take pride in being a Father figure to him, he knows he has a home here. He willl come to me instead of turning the other way when times get rough. I know his heart, God knows his heart he has turned away from the things he knows that is wrong. He is crazy about a girl, and was welcome in her home until her parents found out he was 18, and there were those that threw up his past as though he was still doing the things he once did. So needless to say he was marked as trouble and the took legal action to keep them apart. The whole time shredding the hearts of both, they truly love each other, just from our conversations I know this. Now he is setting in a jail cell because they snuck out to see each other. If her parents only knew him the way I do and what he has had to endure and the change he has made in his life, I truly believe they would have grown to love him as I have. But unfortunately that is not the case here. I just ask that the R/S family pray for him and her family. May God keep him from turning back to his old ways. Some times God allows us to get so low that we have no other choice but to look up!
God Bless!
