Those snows are a tough hunt. Our season for them has been open for a while now. Still winter here, so no real oppurtunities to hunt them. They are way to overpopulated. It's a shame. I fear they are there own worst enemy at the present time.

Well Kt, they are headed your way tonight, sky is full of them, got the wind behind them and headed NorthWest. Didn't see many during daylight today but after dark it's one wave after the other, and of course since it is dark sounds like they are flying LOW. Wonder how far they will go from my place before they make a stop?

Dak. and Mo. this time of year, the snows have really been jammed up pretty good along the snow lines. They are definitely wanting to go north though. You are right though about hearing them at night. They seem to travel alot after dark. If Missouri and South Dakota have spring seasons on them, they should be getting some pretty good shooting right about now, I would think.

I keep saying every year ,I'm gonna do some research. And find a place to hunt them. We have massive flocks every year that come in north of here. It's just hard to get access to them. So many separate properties inter twined. Maybe one of these years.

It's one of those things you have to do for yourself. Went to Kindersley Sask area last fall for a 3 day hunt. There were over a million birds in the area. They all got up under a snowstorm cloud off to the northwest of us , went east and south, and then hit the sun on the edge of the stormclouds. String of birds 20 miles long at least, and likely a mile deep. We were shooting flock of 250,000 birds coming off a lake to the east of us in late Oct., didn't have time to get out of the blind for a whiz. Spooky birds and a lot of long shots. We got 130 snows and about 25 Specks, few Canadas, in the three days we went out, four guys. Have to see it and and hear it and do it to believe it. That's FUN!!!!!

Still haven't seen any snows around here, though a few canada's have been showing up. Hunting fall geese in Canada would be awesome.

The snow's finally made it out this way. On my trip to the eastern part of the state this weekend, saw flocks of snows maybe a mile wide and mile long and flock after flock of them. It was truly mind boggling to see that many. Seemed like about 10-11:00 in the morning they were taking a break and settling in for some rest and grub. No idea how many were sitting in the fields. Another thing I saw that amazed me was the swans. They were sitting in some of the flooded fields by the thousands. I've never seen that many swans in one place before. And me without a camera. That figures. Mother Nature it truly amazing.

went out towards banff this weekend, swans in the ponds by the highway already, about 100 or so on about 5 different ponds. Usually those ponds are still froze. Some friends are worried about going back to the same area around Kindersley this weekend, snows may have blown through already, haven't heard what they found out from the spotter yet. They killed 244 birds in 3 days there same weekend last year. Wish I could afford to do that and go turkey hunting in BC next week. I'm out of holidays til May 1, then I have 5 wks again. Unfortunately, there are 5 or 6 people in my dept that have to use holidays before May1. Next year. I am waiting for one of the guys to make me a disc of the Oct Sask hunt, one other guy has video, he says he will make a disc for me ,too. I will take some pics myself when I go this fall.
