A Remington 700 ADL, .270 cal, new in the box, Whitetails Unlimited which only 18 have been produced. It has a beautiful Walnut stock engraved with the Whitetails Unlimted logo in the wood. I bid on this rifle at an auction last night, not knowing it's actual value I stopped bidding and a friend there with me ended up buying it. Just curious what someone here thought it might be worth.

Sorry, I must apologize. I know you were looking for a serious answer but I just couldn't help myself on that one.

That model rifle by itself would go for around $620 or so. Throw in the Limited Edition feature and the value would be increased. That increase, like anything else, would be dependent what buyers and or collectors would be willing to pay at this date. A very nice rifle for sure though.

Most generally guns like this (editions guns) sell for around a $1000.00 on the open market. I have seen DU guns of this make and model go for over a grand.

The cost will also be determined by what grade of stock it has. The higher the class of walnut the higher the price will also be. If the stock is 5A Exhibition the gun could sell for well over two grand. I have never seen a gun with this grade of stock go for anything less.

Take this from a ex- gunbroker. That gun is worth 850 to 1050 depending were you sell it. Buying guns like that you have to keep all the paperwork, box, and nver shoot it, to keep or can value. As soon as you shoot it or loose the papers or box, you just lost valuable part of the gun.

Thanks guys for your input. It's ironic that Krogersjr mentioned the box and paper work. Yesterday my friend and I went to pick up the gun at a licensed firearm dealer where all the guns were held until proper paper work was to be filled out.
The box was mutilated and NO papers of any kind were in the box. The dealer was about as friendly as a Rattle Snake. I suggested to my friend he not take possession of the gun until some questions were answered. Makes no sense to me to pay a premium and not get everything in great condition. At this time it remains to be seen as to what happens next. Another friend of mine said the reason the dealer was not friendly was because they make nothing from these forms of transactions, since there were about 15 guns at this banquet that is quite a bit of paper work and the guy was tired of handling these guns. Think I will save this guy any further work in the future by going down the road 30 miles where there is an extremely busy but friendly gun dealer.
