I don't vent very often, BUT I am so pi$$ed I can't take it anymore! I have 6 acres of woods and about 30 acres of field and fence rows to hunt on. People in the area know I shoot big bucks so they crowd my hunting area. I was out Friday afternoon in my favorite gun stand when I heard something coming to wards me. I got ready for a deer to appear, when 100 yards out I see orange. I wave to the guy and he turns around and makes a hell of a bunch of noise leaving. I text my cousin and tell him that there is someone north of us in the neighbors woods. He texts me back telling me that a guy just walked in and sat 70 yards from him! He decides to move for his own safety and goes to my tree stand at the edge of the woods. He sends me another text telling me there is a guy 70 yards south of him and a guy 90 yards north of him. I have no control of the neighbors property but this is bull sh!t. I mean come on what gives?! Do these people find it acceptable to set up and hunt when they know that someone is well within shotgun range? I think its time to stop deer hunting and go after some squirrels or ducks. I haven't seen a deer since Monday and I don't think I will as long as there are 5 or 6 guys walking all over through the neighbors 20 acres. Well I just needed to vent.

Sorry to hear of this happening to you, it can sure spoil your time afield and waste a guys vacation days Had this problem myself a few years back, here's what I did- Took two orange vests, two pair of old coveralls and made two deer hunters, took them into the woods 175 yards, sat against a big tree but in view of the road. Parked two vehicles at the gate at 5 AM, everyday I moved or changed vehicles. Sometimes I was there hunting, sometimes I would be 4 miles from that farm. Word got out that I was very patient, but by the end of the season no one knew where I was actually hunting or where I REALLY killed my deer. They were afraid to tresspass cause I couldn't be trusted. It turned out to be FUN

I have thought about trying something like that. Who knows maybe it will happen. At least it will give me a chuckle doing it. I have permission to hunt on the neighbors land and my other thought was to go to the barber shop and get hair clippings and scatter them around their stands. Only down side is it kinda screws me over too. I am going to my cottage in northern Michigan for the holiday weekend. Big bucks aren't common up there but i have seen a few over the years. I can find spots up there were I can walk for a mile and never see another hunter. I just wish that there was gonna be some snow I love to hit a fresh track and catch up to him. Thanks for the idea Grizz good luck and happy hunting.

I know its late but try this next year. If you find out that there are that many hunters around you area, try backing out of your area for the first few days of your season and let the surrounding areas get pressure. Try to maintain a low amount of pressure or presence on your land prior to the opener of your shotgun season. The deer will sense the pressure and will look for an area of less pressure. Most likely this will be yours. I do this on our areas and it works.
Implement this with what Griz said about creating a fake hunter or hunters and I think this could work for you. If you put a false hunter in you area this could prevent other hunters, that surround your area on other properties, from shooting onto your land. The presence of a hunter can give other hunters an incentive to restrain from shooting a deer that would be on your place.
