All right lets talk about the 20 MOA base. I have looked into this subject and understand the basic principal of the part in question.
My set up: .308 WIN, Scope 4x12x40 AO Mil-Dot, rings Leupold, base Night Force 20 MOA. The scope has 56 minutes of angle.
Okay, I have a basic understanding of the function of a 20 MOA full base. My understanding is that the full base adds rigidity to the receiver and that the 20 MOA base is designed to get the objective of the scope lower to the barrel. In turn giving the shooter more vertical adjustment for longer ranges. Am I correct in this assessment? Also, is there anything that I am missing?
My next concern with a 20 MOA is the MOA of the scope. To sight the scope so that it has the ability to hit at 100 yards I should have 4 minute of angle down with 52 minute of angle up. According to the gun smith I talked to. Is this correct. Now I understand thiese figures could be an estimation.
