Well the opener of duck was a repeat of early goose season. It flat out stunk. The ducks were kind of strange. They were hard to decoy! It was like they were hunted for a couple of weeks. Really had to lay the call to em. We had one group of 10 come in perfect. Don't know what the heck happened, between the two of us one bird. A hen mallard. The woodies numbers are down due that early snow we had last week. Had four come in right before first light. We can shoot a half hour before sunrise. But because of the deluge of rain light was a bit late. We couldn't see them in the timber, til it was too late, gone! Also while settin the dekes. I got my neoprenes stuck in the mud and did a face plant up to my shoulders in the water. Thank god it wasn't cold and rainy, been a short day! I mean it rained at times so hard you couldn't even look to the sky, without pokin your eyes out. Hopefully the next trip will be a lot better!

Hope ya get a few good hunts in. We are gonna hit a new spot this week. Two swamps linked together. lot of standing timber. i'll take some pics of it. Suppose to be a magnet! We went to our traditional place on the opener.Cause it always pays off. Maybe it will be better during the late season, when the waters freeze. it stays open all year,no matter how cold it gets???.
