Gettin all my geared packed up and truck loaded. Going to head out this afternoon in search of some ducks. Will be meeting up with my buddy Bob. Our seven year drought as ended and the word is out that the Prairie Potholes are full of water and ducks this year. Been three already since I've shot a duck. Will be interesting to see how Dakota takes to duck hunting as she has never seen one before. Sure hope I can still hit one. Will be my first duck hunt without old Moosie. Sure miss that old doggie. Hopefully I will have some pics and stories to share by the end of the week.

Got back home Thursday from our duck hunt. It wasn't quite a bust, but close. Again we were plagued with some very miserable cold, wet and windy weather. Just getting to our hunting area was a feat. Bob's truck weighs an extra thousand pounds right now from all the mud. There were ducks around and we got a few. I was way to cold, wet , and miserable to take any pics. Dakota did have a great time though. Not sure what she thinks about duck hunting though. Sitting patiently and being quiet is not here forte'. There were thousands of sandhill cranes flying around constantly. Not sure if they ever land. All in all it was great to get out duck hunting again even though things weren't at there best. Can never take away the memories. We still had fun.
