Wow, he's lucky to be alive!! You can never be too careful, never check too often.
I almost witnessed such a thing as this last fall. A hunting friend of mine has a bad habit of leaning his rifle in the corner of the garage instead of placing it in the gun cabinet. His .243 had been in the corner, muzzle up for over a week after sighting it in. When he went to go deer hunting it would not fully chamber a round, so he tried looking down the muzzle but only saw black. An hour later about 3000 Japanese beetles were removed from the barrel with a ramrod and much cleaning. These beetles, look just like a lady bug, will pack into anything to survive the winter and had chosen his .243 in his heated garage. If a round would have chambered I bet he would have blown his gun up and possibly been injured or killed as he was taking deer with it later in the day. Just another heads up to think about ,Grizz

That was one lucky fella. Looks like you can see something fly out the end of the barrel. Perhaps a dirt clod or a cleaning rod. Either way, a bad deal. Pretty scary stuff for sure. What a thing to capture on video. Thanks for posting. Should be a lesson to us all as to what can really happen.

Wow I'd need some clean clothes after that.Someone was definitely looking over him.I think Mythbusters needs to revisit that myth.
