Two weeks ago, I helped a close friend move as he is taking a new job 100 miles away.Along with several others, we packed a 24 foot stock trailer,2 pickups and a flatbed trailer for his trip. He asked if I would take some things to his farm for storage, meet him there to help him load some more items he wanted to take to his new home.
He has a nice large metal building on his farm, complete with living quarters for hunters, trophy room, and all the comforts of home, the ultimate deer/turkey hunting camp. After our work was complete there,
he said he wanted to give me a gift for being his friend & all the help I had been to him that day. I was given my choice of knives from his Buck collection of over 100 knives, so upon his insistance I chose a nice hundred year anniversery folding knife, with Chuck Buck's signature. We shook hands and parted ways.
My next phone conversation this past weekend was not a happy occasion. He had came back to the farm to get some more items and found everything was gone. They took it all and I still can't believe the nerve these thieves had.
The list is long and an expensive one for sure: 1 4x4 Rhino w/roof & windshield,a 350 Rancher,a 660 Grizzly,a polaris and a 450 Yamaha, all 4x4's.The Buck knife collection is gone, so is his 140 inch archery buck mount, fish mounts, deer stands, gun cases and to make matters worse they stole a flatbed trailer to haul it away on.
The items have totaled over $35,000.00 and he is still noticing missing items.
My friend is a very hard working, considerate, generous,Godly man, that shares his good fortunes with all he knows and esp those less fortunate,so knowing him like I do makes this difficult to accept.
I would sure like to be impressed by our law enforcment and see these low down thieves brought to justice, but so far it has not happened.
