deerhinter95, I imagine it would make a lot of difference from one area to another. I'm in North, Mo and live in an area that is made up of oak timber, hayfields and row crops. This winter has been colder then the last few years and the deer are yarding up more but the does and bucks have separated once again.I have found several concentrations of bucks this month and they are using trails to food sources on a regular basis. I intend to do some backtracking until we find some sheds.I will start looking in the easy areas first, from my atv,in my grain fields and hay fields. The trails are easy to find from there back to their bedding areas. We might find sheds anywhere, but it seems we find several near fences, ditches and areas where they spend the night, you just never know. My neighbors to my North (Southern Iowa) seem to find them much easier then I do. They have a lot more open cropland and the cover is concentrated to smaller areas. They still may find them in either location and anywhere in between. My bro found 2 sets last year only inches apart and another set 400 yards apart but often only one antler is found. Good luck with your hunting.

Sheds arn't that hard to find.I've shed hunted for 30 0f the 40 years I've deer hunted. There are 2 things that will help you be a better shed hunter.1 learn to walk and 2 where you look. WHere to look is the most important. I. Know bedding areas,But mostly late season bedding areas.Which is use'lly closer on right in a food scorce. 2.Late season food scorces, row crops, but when the snow gets deep it's mainly brows lot of under grouth thickets. 3.Honeysuskle thickets where bucks bed right in them. 4.Trails leading to and from bedding to food. 5.Fence crossing where bucks jar there antlers loose jumping. 6.Anywhere busks spend most of there time late season. This will deffently help you fine your first antlers. Plus theres another way I use a lot on my routes.I'll right a post.[ ;DBest way to find antlers.]
