Remington SPR94. I'm 99.9% sure that i'm going to purchase this gun next month. Gonna be my gobbler getter special. But I was wanting to get everybody's input from on here about a scope. My local dealer said customers had bad luck with standard scopes keeping true zero after a few 12 gauge rounds were fired. He suggested a red dot. What do you guys think. The difference in price is minimal, only 20 dollars cheaper for a red dot than the scope i had in mind, so that doesn't matter, I really want a scope, but if a red dot would stay true-er then that's what i'll get. Anybody out there with any experiences in this?

I was looking into a remington. I have a savage and love it for predator hunting. I have a shotgun scope on it and it works fine.

A scope designed for a shotgun or a red dot will work fine. Many manufacturers make shotgun scopes that are very good, I prefer Nikon. I beleve you will be happy with either. if you want the scope then get that, you won't have any problems. Just make sure that when you purchase a certain brand of scope, you call the manufacturer and talk with them about the scope that you are intrested in and make sure it is capable of handeling magnum loads from a shotgun. If they tell you its okay, then you should not have any problems. I know that Nikons shotgun scope will handle the recoil of the magnum shotguns with no problem. Also make sure that the scope that you choose has a generous eye relief.

I use an EOTech red dot. I prefer it over a scope because you shoot with both eyes open which means you can see a lot more area. But ultimately it's the shooters choice. The only real difference is the magnification. Whatever works best for you.

I have a remington 870 3 1/2 with a red dot on it now it's made my nikon and I love it i also have a mossburg 835 with a shotgun scope on it. I have noticed some pro's and cons to both Red dot is easier to get on a target in a hurry to me it's more natural. The red dot's also seem to last longer from my experience and they are harder to knock off sight.but on the other hand I also enjoy shooting the scopee they bring em in closer and can be more accurate when shooting tight groups farther from target. Hope this helps you out some it's just a matter of trying different things and finding what's best for you
