I was recently volunteered to take over a 3D range used by youths and hunter education programs. Went and looked at the range today, wore out targets, busted targets, and waterlogged targets. The range setup is pretty good with ten stations and 12 targets. Just needs plenty of work. I'm kinda new at this and was wondering if anyone knew where I could try to get help with targets. I have not approached any manufacture yet, was hoping maybe someone on here could give me some advice before I get started. THANKS

Make a form letter describing the program to would be contributors. Walk in to the stores and meet face to face with the manager/owner and describe your dilemma. We have a church organized "Bow-Fest" each year and offer them a tax-free deduction for any and all contributions. Go to all the sporting goods store in your area and ask for what you need. Have a "sponsorship shoot" where corporations or individuals would "sponsor" different stations/parts of the shoot. Don't just go to Sports shops but, Red Lobster. Wal-Mart, Applebees ... you get the picture. Have contests for shooting the course, longest shot and etc. Give away the gift certificates that are donated and charge a fee for the shoot to benefit the course. You're only limited by your imagination and don't be afraid to ask ... ask your local newspaper they are always lookin' for a "hometown" need or story! Let us know how it goes ... give us the full report!

I won't be of much help to you, sorry......I just wanted to say how excited I am to hear of more youth opportunities! Our gun club doesn't have any specific youth ranges. It just too small. We do however have instructors on hand for any interested youth, free of charge. Also, kids shoot free with a parent's membership.(might I add, our membership is only $25 annually!)
Some of our County Commissioners are actually in the process of developing a waterfowl compound for youth hunting only.
I just can't tell you how much it pleases me to see adults getting our youth involved in the outdoor sports, shooting, hunting, or fishing.
Kudos to you Mark for volunteering!
