Ok fellers, give it up, tell us what got ya started ! This is an interesting topic. Although i dont do Taxidermy other than deer skull mounts and turkey fan mounts, i think it is a fantastic hobby that is very interesting. Bringing an animal back to life (so to say) is ART at its best.

I started taxidermy back in 8th grade, now have been doing it for 3 years...ik im still a kid, not ever 16 yet but i love it and enter all kinds of competitions around here. I got myslef started, i read books, videos, and just learned by myself, my dad and mom both support me and thinks it great. I supose i started because i figured i was obsessed with hunting and i wanted to mount everything i got lol.

I got into taxidermy about 16 years ago while one day looking at an Outdoot Life magazine and saw an ad for learning taxidermy through video tapes, always fished and hunted and wnated to mount something but just never got around to it till then so I ordered a couple tapes and watched them a few times then gave it a try and have been in it ever since, my shop is only part time, but thats the way I like it, keeps it as a hobby more than a job. I do attend several different state association convention each year and compete at each.
