This is about my 5th or 6th duck and was wondering what it looks like besides to me. I am considering going in to an actual part time taxidermist when I can. Please rate this bird any way you want.

Very nice mount. How do you flesh your ducks? On a wheel or by hand? I never did like the wheel but it sure is faster.

I flesh my ducks by wheel and by hand. The wheel to get alot of fat of quick and by hand to touch everything up. It also depends on the bird and amount of fat on the skin. I barely ever flesh a wood duck on the wheel. Their skin is just way to fragile.

It looks great and you have what it takes to move with it. BUT be careful. There is nothing "Part time" about the Taxidermy field. I have done alot of work myself and my grandfather has been a taxidermist for over 60 years. You will find yourself working full time in no time

Think very, very hard before you start a taxidermy business. It can become overly time consuming and take away from your own hunting time.
I myself only do mounts for myself, family and friends.

Good points! Prior to my moving to WI and then my hands stopping to work right because of ms, I was a licensed taxidermist in MN. Only part time though as I worked in education and loved it. I did a few deer for neighbors and coworkers but I generally tried to avoid stuff during hunting season as that was MY time! I did do a lot of pheasants for game farms to sell their hunters. Upland birds are so easy!!
By the way, your duck looks great! Very natural. You're good! I would go just a mite easier on the paint on the bill. Use an airbrush and avoid the "painted look" Just my 2 cents... Don
