Hey, I just delivered my first Walleye mount for a customer and he was pleased. I believe this Walleye was caught on the the Kanawha River, West Virginia. It was 27 1/2 inches, not sure of weight. The smaller fish is a smallmouth bass that I caught on the Bluestone River in West Virginia. He swallowed the hook and did not survive. Normally he would have went back into the water. I have never caught or even saw a Walleye , other than on TV, until the customer had me mount this one for him. I did some searches on the Internet for pictures since the fish had been in the freezer for about 6 months. I also ordered a Walleye mounting DVD. The color had faded pretty bad. The DVD though painted it darker like a northern Walleye. I am writing to ask your opinion of the work that I did? Thanks again for your opinion. More pictures can be found on my website.

Here in WI walleyes make up a good portion of fish taxidermy so I've done quite a few over the years. You did a great job on yours!! I don't think it's too dark, the colors 'grade down' nicely. I was taught not to 'paint' a fish but to 'tint' it, and yours doesn't look over painted at all. Nice job.
Just curious....what walleye DVD did you use?

Thank you very much for your reply. The video and the books I have read say the same thing that you said about painting. It is more like tinting. Thanks again.

The walleye looks very nice. It does look like the ones from around my area. The coloring on it is accurate. For having one from the freezer after 6 mos you revived it quite well. The bass is very thin compaired to the ones in Iowa. Most of them have more belly.
