I just had to vent a little over this you all. I planned on buying a new deer rifle yesterday and I planned on buying it at a local outdoors store here where I live. I will not mention the store's name but I would rather support local businesses when possible, especially with hunting/fishing gear because you not only get the product but the people that are working there usually have a lot of knowledge about the products they are selling and can offer good advice on them unlike the big nationwide discount stores that I feel don't really appreciate your business as much as the locals (at least that is how I felt until yesterday). Anyway, due to having to investigate a fatality accident that happened near the end of my shift I was running late getting home from work. I stopped by the shop, and I admit it was 15 minutes until their closing time and inquired about the rifle I wanted to purchase, the guy that waited on me never said a word, he just sighed real big and mumbled as he walked off to get the rifle "it never fails somebody always wants to buy a gun 15 minutes before closing time..." in a real hateful manner. Well that just about pushed me over the edge. I told him to forget it and I would get the gun somewhere else and then I just left. I have purchased three firearms at that store, 3 or 4 treestands, and several hundred dollars worth of clothing/hunting accessories, but I promise you I will never return to that store again!!! If my business is not going to be appreciated there then I will simply go to the big discount store here and purchase the deer rifle and in the process actually save a few dollars. The last few times I have been in there some little something would happen to just get under my skin a little, but this time he crossed the line and I will not be back. I don't want to give many details because I'm not bashing the business, it is just that one guy that has ever given me poor service, however the other people have witnessed it and he is still there. All the others there have never been anything but nice and helpful to me. But you know what they say, one rotten apple can ruin the entire barrel. I have had experiences in with this same guy when he worked at another outdoors store a few years back and he was the reason several people I know, including myself, stopped doing business there also. He is just very rude, has no people skills whatsoever and is a very unfriendly person. When I first saw the guy a couple of years ago at the store I was at yesterday, I knew that eventually he would cause me to quit doing business there also and sure enough it happened yesterday. At least three of the store's other employees witnessed his behavior, but I'm sure nothing will be done. I apologize for being so long winded but I just had to vent somewhere!!!

there's a outfitter in my home town that won't install accessories on your gun/bow if you didn't buy them from him. I think that's pretty crappy. Also, if he knows your not going to spend a fortune in there he acts as though he don't have time to fool with you. I guess it's Wal-Mart from now on for me.

Smokeybear,I think the thing to do is send a letter, similar to the one you posted,to the store address,Attention Manager. If the fella remains under employment and doesn't apologize then I would bet business is down hill from here on. I would not tolerate him working for me thats for sure.

The owner actually witnessed the entire thing. I think they are actually related or something. I also posted this story on a forum that I know the owner of the store frequents. I did get a PM from him on that forum and he never even offered an apology or anything. He just acted like he didn't even see the post. Funny thing is the guy had never PMed me before the post. He knows what happened and he knows the guy is always acting like that, he just apparently doesn't care. No matter, there are plenty of other places that will appreciate my business more than they do.

We used to have a couple stores in Amarillo Tx .Good one's then we lost one due to old age then the other changed hands and you can't deal with them at all OUTRAGEOUS prices!!!! So now I go to the big ones . Thats all a poor boy can afford.

Best thing to do is boycott them and let other people know why

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad employee wait on you. But befor you give up on the business please go to the owner and relate everything you have said here. Give him/her the employees name and tell the truth as to what was actually said. In most cases the owner does not know they had an employee that is driving away buyers. They will either can the guy or watch them closely to see how often the guy has an attitude like they displayed to you. If it was the owner then by all means- find another place to buy.

I am a hunting and firearms manager at a large outdoor company, I also think you should let a manager know about this employee, cause even if he is a hard worker for me I would not want him pushing away customers like that.
