I have one pet peeve - dudes jumping on a post without knowing what the're talking about or even understanding the post. I logged on a forum a while back, seeking information. A customer had requested that I drill, tap & install beads on a couple of shotgun barrels. I'm a gunsmith, but noone has done it all or knows it all and not being much of a shotgun enthusiast, not having done this before and wanting to do the best possible, I sought advice thusly. I asked the question: where along the barrel should the beads be situated. I figured the quicky would to ask advice from someone on a forum, who knows or has a mid barrel bead. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know I need to know measurement from the end of the barrel. I was bombarded by A$$holes telling me they needed to be on the bottom , 45 degrees from the top, etc.. One genuis asked me if I didn't know the definition of mid barrel. Great, but if there is a specific relation of bead size/sight radius, etc. it would be great to supply that sight picture to my customer. I now know the grand scheme of all this, but it seems so many dudes have nothing else to do and no clue that there are legitimate reasons for forums besides getting a chance to put down people and show how minimal their intellect is. If I'm in error, tell me - be sure you're right or I'll be on your A$$.

I feel your pain brother. I think this site is better than most, but anywhere you go you will get someone who "thinks" they know something and then you come to find out they didn't know a thing.
I experienced this more when I was tournament bass fishing. I would go to seminars to help some friends who are professionals. Helped them with their booths...etc. I did nothing but LISTEN to them..never spoke a word.
At our resident tackle shop back where I was from, I was somewhat known to many customers as I would frequent their quite a bit. They helped sponsor me, so on my free weekends days I would go by with my sponsor shirt and stuff on and just walk around the store to help in any way I could. One time there was this new kid they hired and he was out helping customes. I listened to him giving advise and it made me sick. For every customer he had spoken to I felt obligated to go and correct his mistakes.
Then I had a sit down with him and the store owner afterwards and explained the damage he was doing not only to the customers but also to the integrity of the store.
