Duck Hunting

What got you started?

I decided to give goose hunting a try for the first time this year. I have limited mobility and figured this is something I could do from a blind. There is such an abundance of birds all over the place, even I can should be able to bag a daily limit. Those are 2 good reasons, don't you think?

I already purchased a federal bird stamp. This morning I'm heading over to Gander Mountain to pick up some ammo and such. By the way, I read that Federal is substantially raising the price of ammo soon. The others are sure to follow. If you need some, get it now.

I sure would welcome an experienced buddy to hunt with the first couple of times. Anybody from upstate New York out there? Would also appreciate any and all tips for a novice bird hunter.

My Dad started taking me along duck hunting when I was just barely walking. Eventually I became his retriever. I would go to bed dressed ready to get up and go along. I was hooked at a young age. Sure miss old Dad, alot.--KT

Hey, haven't been on in awhile! Ever since I can remember, I went walking with my father both dove hunting and deer hunting. When I was probably 10 years old, I went duck hunting for the first time-and have loved it ever since! I went duck/goose and dove hunting for probably five years before I started deer hunting. I sure do miss it! Can't wait until I move back home to North Dakota!

Hey ole 4pointer and my dad got me duck hunting at the age 11 killing my first duck was a great thrill to me.

Yes, it is great to get back home. I will still be in California during duck season this year, and in my third trimester of pregnancy. I'll just be in North Dakota from like December/January through June/July. I want so bad to have my shotgun out here! They have skeet shooting on base, and I would LOVE to go there with my husband. I really don't know when I will make it back for duck hunting, it will definatly be awhile-but it will be amazing when I do!!

What got me started...i been hunting ever since ,i could hold a shotgun and thats 35 years ago...i love the outdoors and being with friends...hooking up the duck boats and wading in the water with my Lab....setting up decoys and calling the ducks and geese to the gun...,but most of all...seeing the sun comming up and the lord blessing me with another day....Thunderbolt125!!!
