No problem Dubbee. BTW - I really like the looks of that short reed. Goosereaper has some "showgirls" in his post too. Have you had a good level of success in the field with your calls Dubbee and 'Reaper? Thank you for any info. - Sloppy

Adam - How do you like that Shaman? Sound-wise and field effectiveness. Haven't heard of the Fowl Language calls until you posted that link. Very nice. Any field reports with Fowl Language or your own GR calls that you can share ?? I like to shop in the off season and am looking pretty hard right now. Christmas money won't make it until February for sure! -Sloppy

since i didnt get my digi camera back till a week or 2 ago i dont have pics of my success this year, but i do have one from before my digi broke, i posted it here sometime. yes, i had GREAT luck with using my calls this year, both goose and duck. best luck with goose, but i didnt duck hunt NEAR as much as i goose hunted(probably about 65-70
geese this year(a good 75% were called in using the stumpy or my delrin goosereaper), and 50ish ducks). the mallards and gaddys seemed to like the "duckreaper". the only band i got this year was a damn pigeon band! ill be hopin for one later goose that starts the 24th.....
the shaman is a GREAT call for me, its really clear, and blows pretty much like a SMH, its a bit louder since the flyway x guts dont use a shaved reed(keats found some way out to use an unshaved reed that makes it LOUD), id hate to hear how loud the procomp shaman is! the geese go feet down in late season for it. pretty good if u ask me!
i havent gotten the fowl language yet, but my friend i hunt with that has one has had great success with JUST that call.

Well I havent had much success this year. Only went out 3 times so far. 1 here 1 there. But I did do pretty well last year. Here is a cuple shots.

I forgot to take my camera this past weekend. It pretty much sucked on Saturday/opening day in Ohio because it was all bright and sunny and we just could not get any of the thousands of birds we saw, to work to the decoys. Yesterday was much better, the clouds covered the Sun up by about 9:30 am & the birds started coming out all over the place. We got a limit of geese but didn't see any ducks where we were field hunting. I think the ducks are all on the open creeks/rivers. Had fun christening a newbie, I had a single come right in and I let it land before I said "Take-em!" He stood up out of the blind & both of them looked at each other before the bird took off & he hit it in the neck. It flew out about 150 yards before it went down...
With me saying why didn't you just shoot it in the head when you stood up? Him saying I thought it was supposed to be flying... Well, he had to shoot it in the head when he made that long walk to fetch it...

Well....since its for "evaluation purposes," I think that you have convinced me to try the Shaman in the ProComp garb. Curious....any reason you would not want the louder notes of the ProComp? The site says it can sweet, soft talk just fine. Have you heard the ProComp version? Final question, did the "bands" on your Shaman cost extra? When I select "ivory acrylic for the stopper and body, the picture that appears does not have the nice banding that your Shaman does. Is there a different combination I need to select? I too really like the ivory acrylic but I may opt out for the "speckled" acrylic. Very good looking too. Thanks for tipping me off to Keats. -Sloppy

the reason for not thinking of the procomp is....i tune my calls in the house...... i wouldnt mind another loud call, but the comp SMH does it for me. it can get REAL low and quiet, but still goosey as heck. it has GREAT volume and note range. if u want i can make a sound file and send it to ya, youll just haveta excuse my crappy calling. i just got the ivory/ivory shaman, and filledin the engraving in with a little paint....just wipe the excess off with a damp rag right when u put it on. i may just get a procomp insert for mine sometime(or get a totally new one in black acrylic with two dimpled stainless bands and a aluminum procomp insert.....), i may wanna use it in some calling comps....i love it that much....

tried a lot of short reed calls, really haven't been happy with any of them... bought a foiles straight meat for christmas,, its the only call to have imo.. foiles kicks butt.

man guys, my foiles royally pissed me off in the field today! that thing has already been traded for a saunders goose pimp! man im angry.... foiles makes great calls, and i love the market huntere as well as SMH's timber rattlers and SMM's. but man....im angry...
