My 2 cents would be to get some decoys! Most of the time, a decent spread of decoys in the right area and not to much calling, brings them in! Cabelas has the Hot-Buy mallard decoys for around $25 a dozen. I started field hunting for geese with a dozen shell decoys that I bought for about $79 but I've added some 3-d photo silohettes & some full bodies. I bought duck & goose calls w/tapes etc... found out a decent short reed goose call is all you ever need, forget the goose flutes... it's good to have a flag (black goose wings) & flag them when they're out at a distance. And a robo duck is a great thing for the ducks but can spook geese. It's good if you get one with a remote control where you can turn the wings on or off from the blind.

strutnjs on this board has a nice short reed goose call for a very reasonable price...It was on sale...I just got one and it's going with me opening morning and that says alot cause if I don't like a call it won't go anywhere with me!!! To get the basics on a goose call hold the call so that 2 fingers (index and Middle fingers) can be used to create back pressure to force the call into the higher notes...Blow lightly into the call and say the words Too-Wit with a lot of emphasis the wit sound...As you say wit closer your 2 fingers over the end of the call creating backpressure to force the call into the higher notes...Use your non-calling hand to cup over the end of the call and your 2 fingers to help direct the sound and help create a little more back pressure. I'm sure the goose call makers on here can give you a lot better advice then I just did but hey I gave it a shot... Oh and believe it or not you can still get a great deal on shell goose deeks...I just got some very nice shells with flocked heads for $79.00 from Bass Pro...
