Feels good to start a new year of outdoor adventures. Everything from fishing for steelies and rainbows . Turkey hunting to deer season. I'm looking forward to enjoying every bit of it. I have a renewed and deeper appreciation just to be out there. I have a lifelong friend who is losing his battle with cancer. And talking with him . It made a rough couple of deer seasons not so bad. And all the other crap I've been going through not bad either. In fact, honestly, there's nothing anymore that really bothers me. I should feel fortunate that I can go through both good and bad things. I'm gonna savor every adventure outdoors and be thankful. His days are numbered he won't be able to fish or hunt ever again.

Today really got the turkey itch into gear. I had a vacation day today. But rather than sleep in til 6 , I decided to get up at the regular time and wait for daylight. Around 6:50 I dressed in some warm clothes and went out on the back porch to sit and listen. About 7:15 just as I was about to back in to a warm couch. The gobblers let loose a few times. Was cool to here that sound echo off the big hill behind me. By 9 while I was doing house chores I looked out here and there. When here comes the gang that was making noise. I noticed they were a little agitated with each other. Usually right around the beginning of February they become less tolerant of each other or certain ones in the group become targets. Pecking order is constant. But now it becomes a little more intense. Well anyway they got me pretty fired up for yet another season.
