Well from what I've seen this week. Our 10 day march goose hunt maybe better than the regular season was. Saw some good size resident flocks nearby our hunting grounds. Do any of you folks get a march season?

We do have a spring season, and I must admit I've never gone. Our spring season is only for snows and blues.

They are a very challenging hunt under the best of conditions. One generally needs lots and lots of decoys.

I think the most dekes I hunted over was maybe 150 total. I can't imagine puttin out 500 or 1000 like some of those guides do. Get out there at 3 am to put out dekes. Looks like fun though!

Some of my buddies put out 3-4000 snow goose decoys. Let me tell you. It is really an ordeal. I try not to get involved in that. Those birds can be just plain hard to decoy.

Wow!! now thats a lot of dekes.Man oh man!! Where do you think your birds come from? I didn't realize snows were that hard to decoy in. Although i haven't done enough huntin them to say. I knew you had to use a lot of dekes, because of the flock sizes. I hope to get to hunt them soon here.

The snows we get, hang up in in Saskatchewan before they cross the border into the U.S. In the old days they used to just bust out of the arctic and head south. Now the canadiens plant alot of beans in south Saskatchewan which really holds the birds till the really cold weather sets it. Then they leave in huge flocks for the south. Alot of these birds are 10 years old or better. They have seen it all. And with all the eyes looking in one of these huge flocks, its really hard to suck em in.
