When times were good for honkers. Kind of warm and buggy. But there was plenty of shooting.

You aint kiddin Kt! Next early season,we are goin back to huntin water. Or we will do both field and water,if the farms are able to cut. This year ,the one farm we cut too late. The birds showed up about a week after the season closed. Usually have some big resident flocks. Past couple years have been pretty spotty.

We've never hunted geese over water, always in fields. The early local geese decoy fairly easy. They don't get that much pressure where we hunt. Mostly, its a matter of finding where they are feeding and set up.

We do quite a bit of scouting through late august. Most of our hunting is done on some big fields. Years ago it was a fish in the barrel type hunt. Less decoys you could bring in large flocks. Now it's more decoys and smaller flocks. Hunting pressure down our way was very light at most, now you hear a whole lot of shooting. Gotten a little more challenging. Calling is more of a factor than sight of a spread now. Too me it can be almost as addicting as turkey hunting1
