12 Guage 2 3/4" 385 gr. bonded sabot...
Wow! What an impression these shells have made upon me this year! It's a new product on the market from Remington that turns your otherwise short range weapon shotgun into a sniper shooting, tack driving long range ballistic killing machine! The accuracy is phenomenal and it's long range effectiveness is stellar! I wrote a thread about my doe I shot this season at 120 yards with this shell to compliment this review located here:
Now... on to the review...
The ultimate in shotgun sabot slugs. Ultra-high velocities deliver devastating on-game performance and the tightest groups —1.8" — of any shotgun slug with ultra-flat trajectories. Remington® patented spiral nose cuts ensure consistent 2x expansion over a wide range of terminal velocities, while the sleek, ogive nose delivers high down-range energy retention. The 385-grain bonded bullet yields near 100% weight retention. Flattest shooting slug in existence — 10% better than the nearest competition. Designed for use in fully rifled barrels only.
*Warning, these shells are VERY pricey! Coming in at about 19.99 for a box of five! ... But once you've zeroed in... they're worth every penny and worth their weight in gold! All 385 grains of 'em!
Here's my personal shot grouping @ 100 yds. I aimed at the bottom crosshair of the target to have my placement approx 1.5" high @ 100 and have it zeroed at 150 yards. The ballistic readout on the tragectory of this load reads as such: @ 50 yds... 1.8" high, @ 100 yds 2.2" high, @ 150 yds ZEROED!, at 200 yards -6.42". I backed that ballistic readout by going to the range and finding out first hand. This is the resulting performance...
This is the entry wound channel at 120 yards on a 115-120 lb doe on both sides of a shoulder that presented me with a quartering toward me shot:
Front side...
Underside of shoulder...
Exit wound... inside the ribcage where it exited on the doe's right side:
The pictures and results speak for themselves, but I'm so juiced about this product that I just had to share this with my brothers and sisters here at the Racks & Spurs Club.
