thanx again, i'm having a hard time believing that my buck season for archery is done, t zone (gun doe season) starts tommorrow, still hunting!! finally got a weight, 105lbs, still have to put together the horn part for a score. hopefully i get a giant during gun season and can use that for my entry,

They make you wear that license plate on your back while hunting??

sure do! that plate has been to help catch a few poachers as well! I guess i never questioned it.

So you can get another buck during gun season?

We used to have to wear our license in the middle of the back & they changed it quite a few years back when they went to these computer operated license printers that print everything from your hunting & fishing license to wetland stamps to deer tags on this plastic perforated little card stock that already has a perforated hole so that if it's a deer or turkey tag you can attach it to the deer or bird. The stores just scan your drivers license & bing bongo you buy whatever you want & the little laser printer makes it so...

I'm sure it was a way for them to save on printing costs and/or to rake in more cash...

and now you just have to have it in your pocket or wallet.... & the wardens come up to you out in the field to check you & your gun for a plug...

Two separate licenses, Gun and Bow, you can buy them both at the same time, and use the same back tag #, then with the license comes the "kill validation tag", a small tag you attach to the ear of the animal similar to what you may be describing

I was given one free tzone doe tag for the gun and one for archery, paid for a buck tag for both archery and gun. I can buy as many doe tags as i want for the tzones (unlimited supply), but non tzone, i have to either apply for the tag, or if there is enough left over after the "drawing" by them over the counter,

ultimately, i used one buck tag, now i have to wait for the NINE (yes only nine) day gun season to harvest another buck,

there 's two special doe only seasons, (tzone) and a bow season. oh yeah theres a muzzel loader season as well, but need a gun tag, can use any tzone tag, in the tzone or buy an antlerless tag, or an unused buck gun tag

should i even throw the hunters choice thing in??

Oh i could keep going on, WI has it so complicated now you almost have to be a lawyer or work for the state to understand it all, even then there's confusion. the regs book is (well its in my truck) is about 50-60pages long.

now compound that with over crowded, over hunted public land, this deer is one hard to kill critter in WI, in some places

Dude there ain't no shame in putting grub on the table man. Good shot and nice take my friend. Trophy hunting is fun, but not everyone is hunting in a place (And I am GRATEFUL I am...trust me) where there are tons of does and you can wait on the possibility of a big buck.

That is an awesome story. You should try sending in some stories to different magazines. that was better than alot of what I read in hunting mags. I felt like I was there with you. And, I alkso hunt on public land. BE CAREFUL. Alot of yahoo's I am sure you already know!

That is one of the best hunting stories that I have heard in a long time.It is good to see you giving all the glory to God.Because of him all things are possible.That meat will feed you for a long time.Enjoy the bounty of your harvest.I saw a pretty dark color buck just like it yesterday morning.Those small bucks are great eating.Plus they too are fun to watch and learn how deer act in the woods if you are not going to shot them.Glad you got you one.way to go.thanks for sharing,Mike

after trying to hunt this property during the doe hunt (tzone) i am really glad i took that deer. I saw more people than deer, the place was crwaling with orange blobs. it was crazy-like
