I poured deer cane in a couple of different spots a week or so ago, and i can't tell that anything has been licking or pawing at it? Where is the best place this to put this kind of thing, in what form is it most effective, and what brands?

I use thw Deer Cane Blocks , I put the deer cane blocks in a old sock and hang them from tree branchs, when it rains the sock get wet and runs off on to the ground where they dig up the ground. I have holes that are 2 ft wide and 6 to 10 inches deep They last about a year, the socks I have to change twice a year.

I have a great spot here in town i hunt, its on a littl 10 acre plot of woods. and there is a old tree stump, I put a deer cane block on, put a few mixes of deer cane around and then covered it all in block topper a few years back... they are still stomping licking and chewing on that stump... it jsut soaked it all up... worked great... I would be sure to throw some on an old stump... we have shot many deer around this spot... of course its next to a lone apple tree too which helps I am sure..

When the bucks break up from their groups, I start to hang a dominant buck scent, and do some "rattlin". When it gets closer to, and into, the rut, I will still use the dominant buck scent, but also add a doe estrus scent. I use Scent Bombs, and place these two scents (each in their separate "bomb", of course) together in three different locations. I have two "bombs" to the left, two straight in front of me, and two to the right. I will either get a cruising buck to come in to what he thinks is a ready doe, or to kick some butt to what he thinks is an intruder. In addition, a "ready" doe may catch the dominate buck scent, and come in to investigate, and this may bring in a buck that is on her trail.

I've used curiosity scents more than anything (nonsexual) i typically just place it in a filmstrip can on a trail in a shooting lane, deer will stop and take a whiff,, i've tried rut scents, but never have had them investigate it, probably didn't put enough out, but i know it can be deadly if used at the right time, ive known others that have put it out in Sept, and actually spooked does with it, Why??? just my experiences so far,
Give 'em a try, they just might work in the right conditions, in fact i doubt the industry couldn't have taken off like it has if they didn't work

I want to know if it is true that when you start using doe estrus it drives other does away. I heard it does because they dont want to be chased by a buck? Any truth to this?

I've used heat activated scent dippers and had some success with them about 50/50.

I use a drip bottle also, with Active Scrape. When I find a scrape in an area I want to hunt, I set up a mock scrape. This drives the local boys crazy, and they come to check who's been in their territory.

if it's out there i have tried it man do i spend some jack to deer hunt. i do not take as many as dad and he don't use nothing.i am just the type of sucker who likes to try the latest thing i guess. i have had good success with the buck scents early season brought in several basket racks with it so far this year. and have had some success with doe in heat scents. but the best money spent is on getting rid of you'r scent. scent elimination is worth the money far more than any of the rest.

I use cover scents to hide me and estrous scents to help Mr. buck find me.... We have a local trapper supply company that gets in small batch products from several local deer herds...
