I am very pleased to present the new Shallow Rio Bantam short box. While this caller may fit a young hunters hands nicely with just over a six inch box. Make no mistake, this is not a toy. I would have liked to have made it slightly smaller but could not sacrifice sound nor operability. While a bit higher pitched, this little baby has very good break over, crisp cutts and clucks with a nice guttural purr. I fully intend to harvest my 2007 spring Gobbler using this call. I will be offering this model in a limited variety of woods with no inlays at a bargain price of $60 including shipping. The first ten are already spoken for.allow sound file to fully load then double click start media.putfile.com/1-Shallow-Rio-BantamAs compared to my standard short box.

I just stopped by rio's casa today. I met him online while searching for a quality custom box call. He showed me all his calls and worked them all. I got in line for a bantam before leaving. He showed me his shop where the magic happens. His crafstmanship IMO was superb. I dont want to rant but do yourself a favor get one of his calls!

I can attest for his craftsmenship as well. It is, as you said, "Top Notch". Those words describe it to a "T". I've got two of his calls here at my place. The one is a long box that he donated to the contest and the other is my own box call he made for me. A black walnut/mineral poplar and man can that call sing! I'd like to get your opinion on his new bantam calls, I've been hearing a lot about them and am interested to find out what the front lines are sayin about it this spring! Keep us posted!

Gob father as I am still a rookie at calling I have to say this is the easiest for newbies to start with. He let me try all his calls when I was at his house and the bantam disguised my flaws the best. I am honestly looking forward to getting it mastered so I can step up to that beauty he made for you. Man thats sharp. But back to the bantam I think ease of use is going to make it idiot proof, but I will definatley put that to the test this spring. i will post a pic of what I get with her just dont ras me if its jake. With our 7 day one bird season in MI if its day seven, bearded and close I am eating it! ;D

Yep, I purchased one of Rio's Bantams as well. Overall sounds great. I'm pleased and will be using it in Kansas, Missouri and Michigan this year.
