OVER SLEPT AND BY THE TIME I GOT TO MY USUAL SPOT IT WAS OCCUPIED SO I WALKED ON OUT THE RIDGE A WAYS AND HEADED UP A TREE. I DIDN'T REALLY LIKE WHERE I WAS BUT WITH HUNTERS ALL OVER THE PLACE I HAD TO TAKE WHAT I COULD GET. AT ABOUT 10:15 I LOOKED UP BEHIND ME AND SAW A DEER DISAPPEARING OVER THE BACK SIDE OF THE RIDGE AND THOUGHT ''OH CRAP I AINT GONNA GET A SHOT. HE STOPPED AND ALL I COULD SEE WERE THE TIPS OF HIS HORNS. I PULLED OUT THE CAN-CALL AND BLEATED TWO TIMES AND HE BOLTED DOWN TOWARD ME LIKE HE HAD BE SHOT IN THE ASS. HE STOPPED 30 YDS FROM MY STAND AND MADE A BIG HUFF-HUFF-FFFFFFFFF AND THAT'S WHEN THE OL' 7MM MAG DID HER THING. HE RAN 30 YDS AND FELL DEAD. MAN I'M HAVIN A GREAT YEAR. 8 point

Was hoping to post more than one harvest pic but so far I haven't been real dangerous in the woods so here is what I have so far. This buck was taken Nov 14 Th, 2ND day of our firearms season. The weather was much better than opening day so I started out in a stand where I had seen a monster 10 point while bow hunting. After an hour had passed decided to change stands and moved to my old faithful Double ladder stand at the end of the clover field. Talked to my son on the cell, he had seen 12 deer , five were bucks. His location was 250 yards East of mine in the barn yard of the old homestead. Since he had only 20 yards to walk to his hunting spot and his truck was also that close with my thermos of HOT COFFEE in it, was kind of envious of the location he had chosen. I told him we needed to stay as long as we were seeing deer and I was good for another hour in my stand. WE whispered goodbye to one another and when I looked up this eight pointer was walking in to view just North of my stand. I looked him over good with binocs, he was fairly heavy, had a mature look about him, 4 points on each side and I wanted to harvest a buck and get on with some work so took the shot with my .270. Now I'd like to say I made a great shot and do some bragging here but a lot of guys here could double lung an 8 pointer at 45 yards with their bow so not more to say about that! My son helped me drag him up the hill 50 yards where we could get a truck to him. I reminded Ryan that we were spending quality time together as we each pulled what seemed to be 70 percent each of the weight, the other guy never pulls his SHARE! Ryan reminded me of our IQ level by stating the fact that not only did I have a 350 Rancher in my garage at home but his 750 Kawasaki, 4x4 with winch was parked right behind it, just 4 miles down the road. This buck weighed 232 lbs total body weight, green scored him at 128. Not near as large as some others I've seen but had a great hunt, my son was there to share it with and I'm happy with this deer.
