If you could do up a post on the finishing sometime, that would be great - you do such good work and the write up of the step by step was real good and understandable, too!
Thanks
Kurt

Whew! Your title scared me there for a minute!!! (But curiosity got the better of me and I had to check out what you were talking about) Anyway, wanted to say that I was glad I did. Never knew how this was done and you did an excellent job in explaining and the pictures were great! GOOD JOB!!!! Excellent work by the way....

Well Here is the finnished product after allowing the mount to dry for 2 1/2 weeks and grooming, appoxie work, and paint. This is the deer I mounted on my post " How to Mount a Whitetail Deer.... (Info Post)"

I've got a question... How far down do you cut off the cape at? Is it were it connects to the base of the body? And also when you cut the head off to make it easier to skin the rest of it, you cut it off at the spine kind-of in front of the shoulder blades? Anyhow, thanks for posting that was great and i hope you write more about the finishing touches... ;D

When you get down to the front legs cut the whole leg off at the knee joint then skin the remainder out like a tube...like pulling your arm out of a sleeve. Once the front legs are free, keep pulling the skin down over the head. Cut the head off about 6-8" below the skull...this leaves enough neck meat for your taxidermist to take measurements from.

Ok, thanks a lot. I might try the mounting one sometime but i think that i'd need to see it be done first by a professional...
