I have killed numerous deer running the ones I miss are the ones walking...Don't know why but once they start running they have sealed their fate with me...I'll flip'em like a fried egg everytime...The first deer I ever killed was running full tilt when I placed the bead of my 12 ga on an opening and as he entered the opening I let her rip...That little buck did a cart wheel and dropped right there...I've been doing it ever since...

If you can kill one running, go for it! I couldn't hit the side of a barn if it was running! lol I always shoot them standing still or walking. I used to hunt at my cousins farm and at the neighboring farm of his they would shoot at them running through fields. The first day of deer season sounded like a freaking war over there. It was constant shooting all morning. Then in the afternoon my cousin and I would make small drives for each other. We would always find a dead deer or we'd shoot the "leftovers" running around with their legs shot off! That was disgusting! Well, at least they weren't suffering anymore!

There is so many styles of huntin , some think all Southerners use dogs, hunt over bait & ect. Westerners do drives, chuck rock and roll logs down canyon and shot deer on the run from there beddin areas. I have never hunted with dogs and never will and for the bait , to me and for me only, like shootin fish from a barrel. I have a brother in California that hunts doin deer drives and walkin with the wind at his back to bust out bedded buck , he's a dang good shot, but for this ole country boy, no. I consider myself above average shot with gun and bows. The wife & I shoot 3 days out of the week for 20 to 40 minute per session. We like to keep ourselves in tune but I wouldn't or she wouldn't take a shoot at a runnin deer or animal (4 legged). I was taught to take these GOD givin cridders Ethically and Humanely. One shot , One kill. I try to put myself in the animals hooves, If I was bein hunted , please let them take me out fast and clean. I have one of them "PETA Lovers" for a sister-in-law (brothers wife) so we do take our game clean and ethically and humanely. The less they have on us the better we outdoors men & women are. We should set an example for the public and future outdoors man & woman. I belong to an organization called ADHA , Arkansas Deer Hunters Alliance
The Arkansas Deer Hunter’s Alliance is a newly formed, statewide, non profit organization whose primary purpose is to give the deer hunters of Arkansas a unified voice in the management of our deer herd.
We are dedicated to responsible management of whitetail deer as a valuable resource and serve as a voice for deer hunters while protecting the rights and traditions of deer hunting.
No matter what your preferred method of hunting is, we invite you to join our organization. The more members we have, the louder our voice will be when dealing with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Lawmakers.
We promise to work with them to insure that all legal methods of deer hunting as well as season lengths and bag limits result in the maximum enjoyment of the resource and creates as much hunting opportunity as sound management practices will allow.
We will be supportive of educational programs for hunters and youths to ensure safety as well as legal and ethical hunting.
We will help ensure the future of deer hunting in Arkansas by supporting ways to get our youth involved in hunting as well as other types of outdoor activities.
